Harris Teeter Super Doubles

We got up early and went to HT this morning to beat the rain. Above is what I got....all for $1.75! I LOVE Super Doubles!

I am also teaching my 12 year old daughter how to coupon and she wanted to try her hand at it. Since I also carry my Mom's VIC card since she isn't a big HT shopper I let Kaylie use it for her order. Here is what she got, all for $1.60. Not bad for a 1st timer!!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Begin Tomorrow & Free Deodorant Deal at CVS

Sorry I have been MIA. With Easter and the kids on Spring Break it's been a little crazy over at my house. :)

If any of you were able to print the $2 off 1 Dove Men+Care deodorant coupons the other day, you are in luck! They are on sale for 99cents each at CVS this week and I was able to get two yesterday for 15 cents! Can't beat that!

Also, starting tomorrow Harris Teeter will have Super Doubles. That means they will double coupons up to $1.98 in value rather than the usual 99 cents! There are lots of great match ups listed on Southern Savers so go check it out! I will post my deals tomorrow once I go.

Happy shopping!! Hope everyone is having a great Spring Break so far!

Splenda Deal at Food Lion

Right now at Food Lion if you purchase 2 Splenda's you will get a Catalina coupon (one of those that gives you an X amount of money off your next order) for $3. There are a few scenarios that you can use to your advantage to basically make the Splenda free once you get the coupon back and have a little extra $ back as well. I went today and used a $3 off coupon I clipped from the newspaper on a box of 100 count packets which made it $1.69 and used a $2 printable (found here: Splenda coupons) on a 1.9 oz box of Splenda Granulated variety which made it .89. Total OOP price = $2.73 so after I got the $3 Catalina back I was able to make .27 off of it!

Do you Swag?

Swag Bucks Sign Up

Do you use Swagbucks? If not, you are surely missing out! Swagbucks is an online search engine that you can use to earn some really awesome prizes. The easiest way to do it is by signing up and downloading and installing their toolbar as your default search engine (replace whichever one you already have whether it be Google, Yahoo, or some other one). That way you have a chance to earn Swagbucks when you do your regular searching. There are other ways to earn them as well such as by looking for codes in the blog, taking surveys, completing offers, doing daily polls, watching videos, and more. You can cash your Swagbucks in for some great prizes. I always use my to get Amazon gift cards. When you get 450 Swagbucks you can cash them in for a $5 Amazon GC. It takes me about 2 weeks to get 450 by only searching. If I do other things such as the surveys and such I can get to 450 a whole lot faster. I was able to purchase my daughter's Britax Marathon carseat solely by using Amazon GCs I had earned through Swagbucks. Now that's a heck of a deal! Go check it out!

My Daughter

I have been meaning to post this for a few days now but am just now getting around to it. Last week my 12 year old was grocery shopping with me & suddenly stopped in the store, looked at me, and said "Mama, I just don't know what I'm gonna do when I move out on my own. I'm really gonna need you to start teaching me how to save money." I just about fell out in the floor! I didn't realize that all my saving had made such an impact on my children! Wow! That made for a happy mom! :)

K-Mart Toy Clearance

Today I went to K-Mart (Gastonia, NC) & they had all of the clearance toys marked down to another 50% off. I was able to score all these items for a grand total of $21.06. I'll be going back tomorrow when I have a little more time to get some more. They had a TON! It's all in the very back of the store back behind the electronics section. I should also add that they had quite a lot of various Monopoly games in that section too and if you clipped the coupon from Sunday you can get $4 off!

Pampers/Easy Ups/Underjams/Luvs Deal @ Harris Teeter

One of this week's eVIC specials at Harris Teeter is Pampers, Luvs, Easy Ups, or Underjams jumbo packs for $6.99. If you use size 3 Swaddlers, Cruisers, or Swaddlers Sensitive OR sizes 3 or 4 Extra Protection you can use the $3 off coupon that came in Sunday's paper to get them for $3.99 per pack. If you need another size/style you can use the $1.50 off coupon and get them for $5.49. Limit of 2

Huggies Diapers & Wipes Deal at Food Lion

Today I was able to get both a jumbo pack of Huggies diapers & a pack of wipes for $3.99 (+ tax) at Food Lion. Here is the deal that I used:

Go to: http://networkedblogs.com/gi9kI to print a $3.50/1 pk Huggies diaper MANUFACTURERS coupon (note, it says for a pack of 60+ but I was able to use it on a smaller pack with no issue)

Go to: http://www.foodlion.com/InStore/BabyCare/BabyCoupons to print a $3.00/1 Huggies diapers STORE coupon and a .50/1 Huggies wipes STORE coupon

There is a deal with your MVP card that will ring when you scan it where $3 will automatically be deducted from your total if you buy both the diapers & wipes.

So here's how it works:

Diapers are $10.99 & wipes are $3 so $13.99 total. Take $3 off with your MVP card which brings it to $10.99. Take $3.50 off with your manufacturers coupon which brings it to $7.49. Use your store coupons for $3 and .50 and it brings it to $3.99. $3.99 for diapers & wipes is a heck of a deal! If you have a manufacturers coupon for wipes you can get an even better deal!

I am unsure at this point if the $3 off/both with the MVP card is a one time deal or not. Will update once I find out!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles

A great way to get more bang for your buck is by participating when Harris Teeter has Super Doubles. Super Doubles is when they will double coupons up to $1.98. This week (starting yesterday through next Tues) is a Super Doubles week. I went yesterday and got the items in the second pic for $5 (after tax). Today I went back and got the items in the first picture for .60 cents (after tax). The pancakes in the first pic were not due to SDs though...I had 3 free coupons for those. :) I was able to get the Jello Pudding for free by going to my eVic coupons acct and loading a B1G1 (buy one, get one free) coupon onto my VIC card and also using two $1 off coupons. It only worked because they actually ring up separately as half price so I was able to use a printable coupon for each one. Please note that not all Harris Teeters offer overages so this may or may not work at your HT. I do know that the HT on Neal Hawkins does do overages as does the Mtn. Island one. The Cox Rd. store does not. I use a number of websites for coupon match ups to help me figure out the best deals (during Super Doubles week and all the time!). Southern Savers is my absolute favorite. I also like Money Saving Mom, Madame Deals, Coupon Mama, and Deal Wise Mommy. There are numerous other sites out there that help with match ups as well but those are a few of my favorites. While I do use some coupons that come in the newspaper/mail, I usually use more that I have printed online. I print from the following sites: Swagbucks (because you can earn 10 SBs for every coupon that you print and use from them), Coupons.com, Couponsuzy.com, and Target.com. There are some other great sites out there too. Happy saving!

PediaCare @ Walgreens

This week's Walgreens ad had a coupon for $5 off any PediaCare. If you also go to coupons.com and print the $2 off PediaCare manufacturers coupon (you can print 2) and use both the Walgreens coupon and the manufacturers coupon together then it makes it free, however you will have to purchase a little something else or it will not accept the manufacturers coupon. At the Walgreens in Belmont they are doing a candy bar donation for the USO. The deal is donate 3 candy bars for $2 so that is what I did in order to use my coupons. My total was $2.44 out of pocket for 2 bottles + the candy bar donations. Not too shabby! I'm sure you can get a pack of gum and make your total much cheaper but anytime I can support our troops I will do so. :)

Walmart & Target Toy Clearance

If you haven't already, and you have young children, you should check out the toy clearance section at Walmart and both the toy and kids art section at Target. Last night I went to the Walmart in Belmont and spent $26 and got all of my stepson's Christmas presents taken care of! Today I went to Target in Gastonia and for $25 got a few things for mystepdaughter's for Christmas and a couple things for my stepson's birthday. You just can't beat that! There is not a ton of stuff left at Target (sorry, I bought a lot of it lol) but there is still a decent amount and you could score some really great stuff! At Walmart I got Bakugan stuff for $3 each among other 'boy toys.' At Target I got Bakugans for $1.97 each, a Tinkerbell game for $6.98, a Tinkerbell scrapbook set for $2.48, a Tinkerbell stepping stone art kit for $4.98, and a Princess bead set for $6.98.

Intro To Couponing

So many of my friends have asked me to host a coupon class. Well, after sitting down with Josh & trying to figure out a time when I can actually do it (when he is able to watch the kids) it's just not feasible in the near future at all since this is his busy season at work. So, I'm doing the next best thing and starting a blog to try to help you guys out. Hope you enjoy it!

First and foremost, you need to invest in a 3 ring binder and baseball card sleeves. This has saved me many a headache. It is the best and easiest way to organize your coupons. I sort mine by sections of the grocery store (i.e. produce, dry goods, household, dairy, frozen, and so on and so on). I also have sections in my notebook dedicated solely to store coupons to make those easier to find. I put any doubles that I may have in the same holder in order to free up space. I have tabs on each section to make it easy to flip right to the one I need. You should also print a copy of your stores' policies and put them in a sleeve in your notebook. That way if there is ever a discrepancy (i.e. store employee who doesn't know what they're talking about lol) then you have it right there in front of you to show them. I have one for each of the stores that I frequent. Lastly, put your name and phone number somewhere on your notebook. I learned the hard way by losing my notebook and about $500 worth of coupons once. Trust me, you don't want to be in that position. I was physically sick over it! I now keep one of my business cards in mine.

If anyone has anything else that they would like to add that has helped them, please feel free to do so! I am always looking for new ideas!

More to come tomorrow!!
